Gloria Christine (Born) Jimison of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 73 on September 6, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
“Chris” was born on December 27, 1951. Her parents were Merlin "Max" Born Sr and Eileen (Walker) and step mother Hilda Born. She was raised in a loving blended family and was blessed with seven siblings: Max (Linda) Born, Jerry (Dorothy) Born, Theresa (Darrel) Kraft, Freddie Born, Connie Nance, Bonnie Edwards and Ronnie (Barbara) Morey.
Chris graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in the class of 1969 and married her sweetheart, Donald “Dean” Jimison on July 19, 1969. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in July. Chris worked many years at St. Mary’s hospital in Decatur where she made many lifelong friends and was known to dress up & win the annual Halloween contest. She then went on to work for Prairie Cardiovascular where she retired in 2017.
Chris was a devoted mother to Tracey (Derek) Albert and Charles “Ryan” (Regan) Jimison and grandmother to Landon and Devin Albert, and Maren and Reid Jimison. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and siblings: Jerry Born, Theresa Kraft, Freddie Born and Connie Nance, as well as many extended family members. Each one is better off having received her unconditional love and support.
During her final days, Chris anticipated a joyful reunion with those who preceded her in death which was her parents and three siblings: Max Born, Ronnie Morey and Bonnie Edwards.
Family was always very important to Chris. She coordinated family gatherings large and small, such as the annual Born family reunion in Cerro Gordo, including the 100th reunion. She kept in touch with her high school classmates and enjoyed helping to coordinate their lunches and reunions
Chris was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan. She attended countless sporting events, award ceremonies, musical performances, plays and more.
During retirement Chris enjoyed knitting gifts for others, daily walks or bicycle rides with Dean, reading a good book as well as putting together puzzles and playing Yahtzee with Dean. She enjoyed an occasional trip to test her luck at the River Boat where she often came out ahead.
All are welcome to honor her memory at a service to be held at The Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren at 11:00 am on Friday, September 12, 2025 with a graveside burial immediately following at Cerro Gordo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Chris’ memory to your favorite charity.
