Cheryl Irene Friend, 80, of Forsyth IL, passed away on November 24, 2025, following an illness.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow the visitation immediately at the church. The burial will be at Boiling Springs Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials in Cheryl’s honor may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Cheryl was born on May 13, 1945, in Hammond, Indiana. She was the daughter of James and Thelma (Koch) Honeycutt. She married Dain Friend on February 9, 1979.
She worked as a realtor for more than 50 years and was past president of the Decatur Board of Realtors. She was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church for many years.
Cheryl was passionate about her career in real estate and worked until her final days. She liked hot tea in the mornings, spending time with her schnauzers, shopping until she dropped, taking trips with her husband, and being surrounded by family.
She was determined, independent-minded and could solve nearly any problem. She often lent her hand to those needing assistance in their times of trouble. She was strong in her faith and possessed many admiral qualities. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 46 years; children Lisa (Jozef) Zuurbier, Kris Hyden, Andrew (Sara) Hyden, Aaron (Adreiona) Friend, Charles Friend; James (Deanna) Friend; seventeen (17) grandchildren; and five (5) great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Jayme DeSantis, James Honeycutt, and Todd Honeycutt.
