Charlotte Downs

Charlotte Imogene Downs, 87, of Decatur. Died at 11:35 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, 10 AM until Noon, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Memorials: First Christian Church of Lovington, IL or Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois, 210 W. McKinley, Suite 1, Decatur, IL 62526. Charlotte was born April 23, 1925, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William and Mary (Smith) Ooton. She married Robert L. Randolph, and later Cecil Downs on May 9, 1966 in Tuscola, IL. She was a retiree from Borg-Warner. She was an avid Cub and Duke basketball fan. She loved baking her Grandma Charlotte cookies. Charlotte is survived by her children Jane Dyer and husband, Raymond of Lovington, IL, Lynda Marlow of Arthur, IL, Roberta Elliott and husband, Alan of Sullivan, IL, Robin Randolph (Joyce) of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Carl Ooton of Clinton, IL, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Carol Randolph of Mattoon, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Cecil, son - Charles "Buddy" Randolph, infant - Shawn Alice Randolph, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Kairouz and Dr. D. Patel for the kind and loving care given to Charlotte, and McKinley Court nurses and staff during Charlotte's journey. "
