Charles Wendel

Charles Eugene Wendel, 83, of Decatur, IL, passed away 1:06 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Inurnment will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Fire Department. Charles was born January 29, 1931, in South Bend, IN, the son of Charles Wilford and Ila Louise (Carver) Wendel. He married Pearl Imogene McCoy on April 29, 1950 in Decatur, IL and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2013. Charles worked for A.E. Staley's for 45 years and owned/operated Gene's Mower Repair for many years. He is survived by his children Linda Lou Buckner of Decatur, IL, Terry Eugene Wendel and wife Nancy of Lovington, IL; sister Kathryn Louise (Kathy) Goodwin of Mt. Zion; brothers Darwin Lee Wendel and wife Delores of Mt. Zion, Elwood Neil Wendel of Decatur, IL; several nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews; and special friend Mike Martin of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Pearl. "
