Charles Songer

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Monday, January 19, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to American Legion Post 105 or to Golden K.Charles C. Songer was born June 23, 1918 in Decatur, IL, the son of Clyde K. And Edna M. (Jones) Songer.He married Vivian H. Townsend on 1979 in Decatur. Charles was a veteran of the US NAVY serving during WWII.Charles was a design mechanic engineer for many years at Union Iron Works and later for Air Float. He was a member of Forstyth United Methodist Church.Surviving are three sons Charles L. Songer and wife, Kerry of Decatur, Kent A. Songer and wife, Carla of Hermitage, TN, Jeffrey A. Songer and wife, Tammy of Lenexa, KS; two step-sons Michael Townsend and wife, Carol of Oakley, IL, Daniel Townsend of Seattle, WA, one brother Francis T. Songer and wife, Carol of Decatur, IL and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents; one son David L. Songer and one brother, Richard G.
