Charles Smith

Charles R. Smith, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Charles was born September 30, 1922, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Charles R. Sr. and Lulu Bell (Rider) Smith. He married Delores L. Crisup on June 8, 1946 and she preceded him in death on August 8, 2006. Charles was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after many years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII. He is survived by his son Charles R. (Judith) Smith of Decatur; grandson Brian Smith of Cypress, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Delores, and one sister.
