Charles (Chuck) Wesley Runyen, 86, of Oreana, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, peacefully in his home.
Services will be held at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL, on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12:00PM with visitation starting at 10:00AM. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery.
Chuck was born on September 6, 1937, in Maroa, Illinois, the son of Emmer (Feutz) and Clarence Runyen. Chuck married Judith (Judy) Darnall on October 12, 1958, in Argenta , IL. Chuck was a retired sheet metal worker from King-Lar Company in Decatur, IL. He loved camping, fishing, family vacations, and following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities. Chuck was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 218 and the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association. Chuck was a former Boy Scout Leader of Oreana Troop 131, where he was a member of The Order Of The Arrow. He was a member of the Oreana Centennial Committee in 1973, and a former member of the Argenta-Oreana Booster Club and the Argenta-Oreana Band Boosters. He was a former general contractor and was able to do almost any project that needed to be done.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 65 years; sons, Tony (Jeannie) Runyen of Cerro Gordo, IL; Rodd Runyen of Cerro Gordo IL; Todd Runyen of Hillsboro, IL; grandchildren, Sara (Derrick) Eldred of Cerro Gordo IL; Bailey (Ashtyn) Runyen of Cerro Gordo IL; Autumn (Donald) Runyen of Mt. Zion IL, great-grandchildren, Daniel Eldred and Hattie Faye Eldred of Cerro Gordo IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother and father; son Scott; daughter-in-law Tera; 4 sisters, Alberta, Naomi, Pearl, and Deloris; 4 brothers, Edward, Elmer, Bernard, and Clarence; and 4 infant sisters.
Memorials can be made to the Argenta-Oreana Fire Department or the Cerro Gordo Brethren Church.
