Charles Franklin Lane (“Charlie”) passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Peoria, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with visitation on Wednesday, November 6, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Casual attire is welcome.
Charlie was born on October 15, 1948, in Decatur, IL, the son of Raymond Lane and Mary Belle (Shake) Mahon. He married Judith Stout on November 4, 1972, in Decatur.
After serving his country as a combat rifleman and Purple Heart recipient in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corps, Charlie worked as a Regional Marketing Executive at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 27 years. He loved sports and could often be found coaching softball and basketball, cheering on the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. Charlie also took great joy in music, home remodeling, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith; his children, Jenna “Bug” Lane of Waterford, WI; Nicholas Lane of Decatur, IL; and Candace Damon (Brian) of Waterford, WI; his grandchildren, Alex, Ari, and Brooklynn; his brother, Daniel Lane (Carol) of Detroit, MI; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, David, Eric, and Jimmy.
