Charles Harris

Charles Harris, Jr.died 10:30 PM Friday November 28, 2008 at his residence Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday Dec. 2, 2008 at Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday at Central Christian Church. Charlie was born the son of Charles and Lenora (Kirk) Harris on March 21, 1918 in Mowequa, IL. He married Catherine Clark in 1952 in Painesville, Ohio. Charlie was a member of Central Christian Church, and served with Golden K Kiwanis Club, SCORE, CHELP, and I-Search. Also served as Chairman of Zoning Board of Appeals, and a Decatur City Councilman from1980-88. He received a degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1941. He worked as a senior project engineer at A. E. Staley from 1941 to1980, retiring after 39 years in that capacity. Surviving: wife-Catherine, three children, Lenora Elizabeth Field and husband Michael, Fairfield, CT, and their children Elizabeth & Evan, Edward Harris, Decatur, IL., James Harris and wife Rose, Cincinnati, OH., and daughter Amy and fianc Ross.
