CUSTOM DEATH NOTICE Charles S. Broughton, 91, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Heartland Nursing Home.Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, at New Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery, Bellefontaine Neighbors, MO. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m Tuesday, November 24, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation or Sharon United Methodist Church.Charles was born on February 24, 1918, in Batchtown, IL, the son of Terry Broughton. He married Merry Copeland on August 31, 1940, in Tory, MO. She preceded him in death. He later married Edna Wilson on January 17, 1990. She also preceded him in death.During WWII, Charles worked for Curtis-Wright Aircraft in Lambertfield, in St. Louis, Mo. Charles worked as a maintenance machinist for Anheuser-Busch Co., St. Louis, MO, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. Charles and Merry enjoyed traveling the world. Later Charles and Edna enjoyed traveling all over the United States. +Surviving are his son Dale Broughton and wife Polly of Lindon, UT; son-in-law Barry Ong of Greenwood, IN; stepson Francis (Bud) Wilson and wife Linda; stepdaughter Sharon Powell and husband Ray, all of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wives, daughter Linda Ong, son David Broughton, and sister Gwen.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
