Charles D. Bell, 85, of Bethany, IL, went to be with his Savior on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in his home. A visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm Wednesday, October 23, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 68, Sullivan. Charles was born October 4, 1934, in Reynolds, IN, son of William and Mary (Riggleman) Bell. He married Jan Kay Archey November 8, 1959. She preceded him in death December 27, 2011. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion in Sullivan. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed wood-working. Charles was a switchman for the railroad for several years, a truck driver for many years, and then a maintenance supervisor for a nursing home in Lafayette, IN for 7 years, until his retirement. Surviving is his son, Chuck Bell of Bethany; daughters, Amy Fletcher and husband Kevin of Austin, TX, and Dorinda Screen and husband Richard of Arizona; grandchildren, Haley, Kevin , Jeff, and Aaron; great-granddaughters, Madi and Kinsley; and brother, Howard Bell of Montpelier, OH. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Bradley, daughter Donna, and one brother Lamoine. "
