Charles “Bud” Edward Ashcraft, 81, of Mt. Zion, IL, passed away 1:12 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10:00am at the Lampstand Presbyterian Church in Decatur, IL with a visitation on Monday, November 23 from 4-7pm at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL.Memorials may be made to the Lampstand Presbyterian Church.Charles was born January 2, 1934 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Charles Dwight and Lorene Maye (Sidenstricker) Ashcraft. He married Carol Sparks on September 20, 1980 in Macon, IL.Charles worked for Caterpillar for 30 years most recently as a plate inspector. He was formerly a member of the Lions Club in Mt. Zion, IL, the Jaycees in Maroa, IL and was a volunteer for the Maroa Fire Department. He also loved spending time with his wife Carol, children and grandchildren as well as his friends. Charles enjoyed hunting trips, and especially playing poker.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol of Mt. Zion; children Pamela S. (Chris) Schwindt of Memphis, TN, Lorene K. (Bill) Weikle of Maroa, IL, Cheryl L. (Leo) Pate of Houston, DE, Lori A. (Kevin) Rosborough of Decatur, Jodi A. (Terry) Sowers of Port Charlotte, FL, Lonnie W. (Jeanne) Felter of Elwin, IL; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie (Lance) Stiffler of Bronson, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Bob and Nancy Vorce.
