Cecil L. Barker, 76, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2016, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Strasburg, IL at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements.Cecil was born on February 19, 1940 in Strasburg, IL, the son of Burl Curtis and Margaret Elizabeth (Volkman) Barker. He married Mary Baldwin in Decatur, IL and she has preceded him in death. Cecil worked for A.E. Staley’s for 38 years as a soy bean oil extractor and a union steward for AIW.Cecil is survived by his special friend Cyndi Brown of Decatur, IL, two children; Marsha (Roy) Brumleve of Teutopolis, IL and Theresa “Terri” Bechtel of Peoria, IL. Cecil is also survived by one step-son Tim Barker (Christa) of Coral Springs, FL. Also surviving are two sisters, Janet Zike of Mattoon, IL and Wanda (Mick) Ramert of Neoga, IL; three brothers, Larry (Wanda) Barker, Jesse (Nancy) Barker of Sullivan, IL, and Derry (Diane) Barker of Mattoon, IL; one daughter-in-law, Barb Barker of Mattoon, IL; and 7 grandsons.Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roy Curtis Barker, and one sister, Catherine Marshall.
