Cathy Anne Meadows, 76, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. A memorial service will immediately follow at the church. Memorials in Cathy’s name may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, IL.
Cathy was born April 2, 1949, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Charles Hoyt and Carol (Pare) Purdom.
She retired from the State of Illinois as the Director for the Department of Rehabilitation Services, a division of the Department of Human Services. Cathy attended First Presbyterian Church in Decatur, where she served as an elder and was a member of Soul Sisters and the Women’s Bible Study.
She took part in various book clubs over the years. She enjoyed painting and was particularly drawn to the challenge and beauty of working with watercolors. She also loved traveling and dining in the company of her best friend, Connie May. More than anything, she cherished time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. They brought her much laughter and immense joy.
Cathy is survived by her son, Brock (Heather) Meadows of Decatur; grandchildren McKensie Meadows and Isaac Meadows, both of Decatur; great-granddaughter Lydia Villarreal Meadows; brother Greg (Linda) Purdom of Florida; sister Jill (Jeff) Kaufman of Auburn, IL; sister-in-law Lori Purdom of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Jean Stockdale; her father, Charles Hoyt Purdom; and her brother, Paul Hoyt Purdom
