Catherine E. Brown, 72, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family and dogs.
A memorial gathering will be held 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Catherine was born March 18, 1953 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Jean McArthur. She married David Brown on July 27, 1973. Cathrine worked for many years as a teacher’s aide in Decatur Public Schools, at Brush College Elementary and Pershing Early Learning Center. She enjoyed making quilts and sharing them with friends and family.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, David; daughter Danielle (Jerry) Canaday of St. Louis, MO; and siblings: Dennis (Carol) McArthur, Jean Colligan, Ronald (Kristine) McArthur and Nicole Dawn.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Scott McArthur, and brother-in-law, Steve Colligan.
