Carolyn Louise Workman, 79, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 28, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, Decatur, with visitation 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, September 27, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 W. North St., Decatur, IL 62522.Carolyn was born January 17, 1938, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Paul and Louise (Hanson) Fisher. She married H. Phillip Workman on August 3, 1957 in Bloomington, IL and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2017.She had worked for Prudential Life Insurance Co., Allied Van Lines, and then was employed by A.E. Staley Co, in the office building. Carolyn was very active in the Staley Women’s Club, and several activities at First United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member and volunteer.Carolyn had enjoyed breeding, raising, and showing bulldogs. She and Phil had an extensive collection of bulldog collectibles throughout their home, and she was a member of the Sandamac Kennel Club. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the many birds around their home, and she also was an avid gardener and amateur beekeeper.After Phil’s retirement from the Decatur Fire Department, they began their extensive travels around the United States in their motor home. They enjoyed being members of the “Escapees” motor home group!She is survived by her children: Gary (Brenda) Workman of Decatur, Doug (Gloria) Workman of Hampton, VA, Diane (Donald) Hollinger of Savannah, GA, Bill (fiancée Yvonne Smith) Workman of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; sister, Sara Fisher; and brother, Steve Fisher, both of Bloomington, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phil; and Sister, Barbara Duvall.
