Carolyn Watson Maddox, 73, of Oreana, IL, died 6:40 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 1, 2013, at Prairie Avenue Christian Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Oreana, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Prairie Avenue Christian Church or the Argenta Oreana Library District. Carolyn was born July 14, 1939 in Iola, IL, the daughter of Robert Avon and Olive (Wacker) Watson. She married Raymond Maddox on June 25, 1961 in Urbana, IL. Carolyn was a librarian at Eisenhower H.S. and Centennial Middle School, and taught 3rd grade at Oreana Grade School, retiring in 1999 after 20 years of service. She loved traveling, reading, and cross stitch. Carolyn was a member of Prairie Avenue Christian Church, and a former member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, and Argenta Oreana Library District Board of Directors. She graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Illinois State University. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Raymond of Oreana, IL; son Gregory Maddox of Carbondale, IL; daughter Elisabeth (Matthew) Branch of Viola, IL; grandchildren Quinn, Reese, and Sophia Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister June Watson. "
