Carol Ann Harres, 78, of Decatur died at Fair Havens Christian Village on Friday, November 10, 2017 in Decatur, IL. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL at 10:00am with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.Carol was born on June 14, 1939 in Vandalia, Illinois the daughter of Roland H. (Bob) and Blanch (Murray) Fehn. She was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and received her teaching degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Carol married Leon F. Harres on December 29, 1962 at Nebo Lutheran Church in Chicago. They were married for 51 years.Carol was a long time resident of Decatur and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She taught school for several years in Lansing, IL and then focused on her family. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, loved playing bridge with her dear friends, was an avid collector of antiques, and enjoyed traveling. Surviving are two daughters: Tracy Harres (Hank) Kluge of Jacksonville, FL, Amanda Harres (Charles) Strickland of Temple, GA, and one son: Matthew E. Harres of Decatur; two grandchildren: Mackenzie Kluge and Avery Harres. She is also survived by her two sisters, Susan Prins of Covington, GA, and Frankie Sweetnam of El Paso, TX.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon, and grandson, Connor Doom "
