Carol Gifford

Carol Elizabeth Gifford, 57, of Decatur, IL, passed away 6:45 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at home with family at her side. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. A Celebration of Life to follow at the Rendezvous Bar at 3 p.m. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Carol was born February 10, 1958 in Trenton, NJ. She married John Lee Gifford on September 6, 1975 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2015. Carol worked at the Clinton Power Plant for several years. She and her husband John were owners of New Back Door Tavern for 29 years. Carol was a member of the American Pool Players Association and was active in fund raising for various charities. She is survived by her daughters Valerie (Raymond) Durbin of Decatur, IL, Tiffany (Mike) Law of Bethany, IL; grandchildren Mason Gifford, Olivia, Lily, Ellie; mother Teresa Cravens of Decatur; sisters Denise (Randy) Wiggins and Arricka (Paul) Newingham, all of Decatur; brothers James (Corina) Cravens of Bethany and Doug Cravens of Decatur; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Douglas Arrick Cravens and husband John. "
