Carol Lund Cooley (Diedrich), passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025. She was born on March 18, 1936 in Ripon, WI. She was a 1958 graduate of Ripon College. Carol married Thomas Edward Cooley in December 1958 and they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.
She is survived by her husband Thomas; 2 sons, Mark (wife Judy) Cooley of Hummelstown, PA and Lund (wife Denise) Cooley of New London, WI. Carol is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother John Diedrich of Ripon, WI.
Carol was a 75 year member of the Congregational Church. She was very active in gardening and golfing at South Side and Decatur Country Clubs. She was a charter member of the Decatur Mafia Social Club, the Newcomer’s Club and PEO. Carol and Tom traveled extensively with friends and family all over the world. She thrived in partnership with her husband in the floor covering business and in their apartment management pursuit.
Carol was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Carol very much loved Decatur and cherished her many friendships with all the lovely people she interacted with.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 2 pm at the First Congregational Church, 3465 N. MacArthur Rd, Decatur, IL 62526.
