Carol A. Ashcraft, 73, of Mt. Zion, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Lampstand Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lampstand Presbyterian Church.Carol was born September 20, 1943, in Monticello, the daughter of Wayne and Elzora (Smith) Sparks. She married Charles Ashcraft September 20, 1980 in Macon. He preceded her in death November 20, 2015. Carol was a bookkeeper/payroll clerk for many construction/ asphalt companies including Mason Steel and Dunn Company, as well as St. James Church and Rolling Prairie Library System. She enjoyed traveling, playing bunko, and spending time with family and her Red Hat friends. Carol was a member of Lampstand Presbyterian Church.She is survived by her children, Lori A. (Kevin) Rosborough of Decatur, Jodi A. Sowers of Port Charlotte, FL, Lonnie W. (Jeanne) Felter of Mt. Zion, Pamela S. (Chris) Schwindt of Memphis, TN, Lorene K. (Bill) Weikle of Maroa, and Cheryl L. (Leo) Pate of Houston, DE; brothers and sisters, William “Bill” (Norma) Sparks of Cerro Gordo, Connie (Tim) Thomas of Decatur, and Robert “Bob” (Schuyler) Sparks of Decatur; 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Esparaz and the staff at Cancer Care Specialists and DMH 5th floor nursing staff. "
