Carl Vaughn

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, February 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Berea Christian Church or Donors Choice.Carl was born on September 5, 1923, in Decatur, IL, the son of Glenn and Leah Clovia (Martin) Vaughn. He married Anna Susie L. Sanders on July 2, 1949, in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2010. Carl was a member of Berea Christian Church. He was a farmer for 40 years, worked as a millwright for Borg Warner and was a T.V. Repairman. He was an avid C.B.er, using the handle Appleville Flash, a former Ham radio operator, enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.Surviving are his children Carla Sue Josefson of Mt. Auburn, IL, Steven E. Vaughan and wife Mary of Lexington Park, MD, John R. Vaughn and wife Tanya of Decatur, IL, Lawrence Paul Vaughan and wife Lara of Macks Creek, MO, Thomas G. Vaughn, Sr. and wife Tonya of Blue Mound, IL, and Leah V. Lookabaugh and husband David of Blue Mound, IL; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother Otis Dean Vaughn and wife Yvonne of Eureka Springs, AR; sister-in-law Dorothy Vaughn of Latham, IL.Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Glenn and Donald.
