Carl Ray Semelka, 64, of Long Creek, IL, passed away at 5:32 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home, with visitation from 9:00 a.m until service time, with Pastor Mitch Flesch officiating. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo American Legion Post 117. Carl was born June 25, 1947, in Decatur, the son of Lloyd and Esther Imelda (Sheets) Minor. He married Kaye McDermith on November 11, 1994 in Decatur, IL. Carl was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was a sheet metal worker for Local Union #218, and was a very skilled craftsman. Carl enjoyed fishing, camping, and loved the outdoors. Surviving are his wife Kaye of Long Creek, IL; father Lloyd Minor of Decatur, IL; children Missy Funston of Mt. Zion, IL, Andy Semelka of Long Creek, IL, Toby McDermith and wife Leslie of Warrensburg, IL, Matt Semelka of Iowa City, IA; grandchildren Jacob and Jessica Green, Kaitlin Funston, Hunter Semelka, Kody, Bryce, Andrew and Cody McDermith, Kendra Semelka; brothers Richard Semelka and wife Joy of Florida, and Lloyd Minor, Jr. and wife Elaine of Florida; sisters Sue Wilcott of Decatur, IL and Lee Nailer and husband Howard of Decatur, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers-in-law. "
