Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 19, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m., at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.Carl was born on November 12, 1943, in Springfield, IL, the son of Troy William and Helen Virginia (Nance) Parkhurst.. He married Mary Ellen Barnett on January 8, 1966, in Decatur, IL, and enjoyed 43 years of marriage together.Carl worked as an engineer for Norfolk & Southern Railroad, retiring May 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Carl enjoyed attending car shows, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.Surviving are his wife Mary of Forsyth, IL; children Annette (Mark Francis) Hebenstreit of Forsyth, IL, Troy (Michal) Parkhurst of Mt. Zion, IL, Carl (Ruth) Parkhurst, Jr. of Decatur, IL, and David Parkhurst of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren Austin, Justin, Troy, Tory; step grandchildren Phillip and Savannah; and step great-grandson Dylan.Carl was preceded in death by his parents. "
