Carl Herring

Carl Russell Herring, 87, of Decatur, IL, passed away 3:53 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to Life Foursquare Church. Carl was born August 15, 1927 in Decatur, IL, the son of Herman G. and Gertrude (Parish) Herring. He married June Evelyn Williams on December 13, 1946 in Bearsdale, IL. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2013. Carl was an ordained minister and helped pioneer many churches in Central Illinois. He was also a member of Life Foursquare Church for 51 years. Carl helped minister and assisted with prayers at Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur. He worked at Hazelriggs for nine years and later was a toolmaker and machinist, retiring in 1992 from Burks Pump Company after 20+ years of service. Carl could fix anything, including cars. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in WWII. He is survived by his children Gloria Jeffers and husband John of Anderson, SC, Patsy Elliott of Mansfield, OH, Rosalyn Rinehart and husband Steve of Urbana, IL, Mark Herring and wife Kim of Riverside, CA, Marshall Herring of Decatur, Stanley Herring of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Virginia Kempher of Derby, KS; brothers Danny Herring of Jennings, FL, Howard Herring of Marianna, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 66 years, June, and sister Betty. "
