Carl V. Cripe 78, of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away 5:20 am Sunday June 8, 2014 at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday (06-12-2014) at Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL., with visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, at the Brintlinger and Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cerro Gordo Cemetry Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia foundation or The Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren. Carl was born the son of Vernon Oliver and Myrtle Blanche (Shaffer) Cripe in Cerro Gordo October 10, 1935. He married Leora M. Myers December 27, 1953 and she preceded him November 26, 1999. On May 26, 2001` he married Patty A. Blickenstaff in Cerro Gordo, IL. Carl retired from Bodine Electric in 1998. He was a member of IBEW local #146. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and serving as an umpire for baseball games. Was a boy scout leader, and loved his 42 domino game. A member of Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren, Jaycees, and was Fire Chief for the Cerro Gordo Fire Department with 50 years of service. Surviving: wife Patty, five children, Victoria E. (Barry) Leisure of Harristown, IL, Allen D. (Carol) Cripe of Clinton, IL, Gayle A. (Kevin) Good of Cerro Gordo, Jean M. (Rob) Bratton of Cerro Gordo, Daniel C. Cripe and fianceé, Angela Matheis of Springfield, Illinois. Stepchildren Patricia M.Vera (Scott) of Gloucester, VA, Richard Cropley, Newport News, VA, Mary J.(Mike) Caudle Hampton, Va, Donald J. Waltz, Chesapeake, Va, John H. Waltz, Gloucester, Va.,; sister Marjorie McMillan of Oregon, brother Duane Cripe (Theresa) Cerro Gordo, IL, sister, Lana Donaldson (Robert) of Wisconsin. Five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, wife Leora, and one brother, Dale. "
