Calvin Mcarty

Calvin E. McArty, 59, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 13, after a brave battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 17, at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Calvin was born March 13, 1952, the son of William and Doris (Jacobs) McArty. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and Millikin University. He was employed with PPG in Mt. Zion as a hot tank repairman for close to 30 years. Calvin had two loves in life, his family and sports. He played on several teams growing up and was an avid golfer his entire life. Calvin was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and the Elks Lodge. He was a great man, always quietly there when you needed him and never said an unkind word about anyone. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Calvin leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Doris McArty, his only child, daughter Christen McArty, who will miss him deeply, and fiancé Clint McLeod, of Assumption; sister Linda White and husband Wilson, nephew Jason White, and all aunts, uncles and cousins, all of Decatur; very special friends Steve and Shirley Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his father. "
