Calvin Gillespey

Calvin Benjamin Gillespey of Tipp City, Ohio formerly of Decatur, Illinois passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 in Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio.Calvin was born September 8, 1926 in Cerro Gordo, Illinois, one of ten children born to John B. and Hattie Gillespey.After serving his country in the Merchant Marines, Calvin returned to Decatur and began his 40 year career at the AE Staley Company. In April of 1947 he married Mary Doris Lockamon and together they lovingly raised three children, C.Wayne Gillespey (Connie) of Troy, OH, Jill Walker (Mike) of Mattoon, IL. and Mark Gillespey of Kansas City, MO. Calvin was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur Illinois.Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Calvin is survived by his wife of 70 years, their three children, seven grandchildren: Paul Gillespey (Rachel), Laura Gillespey Roswell, Kyle (Laura) Walker, Kevin (Nichole) Walker, Tadd (Adrianna) Walker, Abby Walker, Hadassah Walker, eight great-grandchildren: Noah and Delaney Roswell, Drew, Isaac, Genevieve and Grace Walker, Joshua and Mason Gillespey, and three sisters Joan Minott, Mary Culaciatia and Janet Foster. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home in Decatur Illinois, with vistiation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Fair Havens Christian Home or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. "
