C. Diane (Gorrell) House, 76, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 4:10 pm, October 30th, 2012, in her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 2, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Newton, IL, at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, or Harbor Light Hospice. Diane was born December 29, 1935, in Newton, IL, the daughter of Harold and Gwendolyn Keavin Gorrell. She married Richard T. House on December 1, 1957, in Newton, IL. She graduated from Newton Community High School in 1953 and later graduated from Browns Business College in Decatur in 1955. Diane worked the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital, and in 1971 became part-owner and Vice President of Tommy House Tire Company, retiring in 2005. Diane was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and, as she raised her children, was very active at St. Thomas Grade School functions. She was devoted to her family, and her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She also enjoyed cooking, classical music, and reading. She touched the lives of so many people with her love and kindness. Her door was always open to anyone who needed her comfort or encouragement. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Richard T. House; children: Jaimee (Rod) Karasch, Jody K. Nolan, Beth (Henry) Austin, Thomas Robert (Michelle) House, J. Martin House, John Dee (Christy) House, all of Decatur, IL, and Molly Kathleen Stewart of Jacksonville, IL; grandchildren: Bryan and Sara Karasch, Timothy, Kaitlin and Keely Nolan, Amanda (Nick) Grace and Matthew Austin, Mallory, Joel, Hayley and Wyatt House, Hannah and Sam House, Andrew, Anna, Alexandra, and Avery Stewart; great-granddaughter Emma Rose Karasch; brother Martin (Connie) Gorrell of Decatur, IL; sister Bobette (Tommy) Martin of Newton, IL; sisters-in-law Joann Gorrell of Champaign, IL and JoAnn (Tim) Graham of Taylorville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, brother Hoyt Gorrell, son-in-law Timothy K. Nolan. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Richard Fritz, Linda Knorr, Phyllis Howley, and also to Penny and Marilyn at Harbor Light Hospice. "
