C. Gambrel

C. Robert Gambrel, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Imboden Creek Gardens, 185 Imboden Drive, Decatur, IL, with graveside services at 3:00 p.m., at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project. Robert was born June 29, 1915, in New Lenox, IL, the son of Charles Loren and Blanche (Pullen) Gambrel. He married Marianne "Mary" Virginia Bianucci on June 15, 1940 in Clinton, IL. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2002. Robert was owner/operator of Merry Motors Auto Supply and a volunteer of St. Mary's Auxiliary for many years. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and gardening. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his children David (Carolyn) Gambrel of Oakton, VA, Richard (Dona) Gambrel of Houston, TX, Marianne (Thomas) Clouser of Fort Mitchell, KY; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister Doris Hauer of Diamond Head, MS; sister-in-law Marjorie Gambrel of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, and brother Earl. "
