Brenna C. McReynolds of Berkeley, IL formerly of Decatur, IL passed away October 17, 2013. A service to celebrate Brenna's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. with visitation from 12:00 Noon until service time. Burial will be in South Macon Township Cemetery in Macon, IL. Military rites will be provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Brenna (Brian) was born on March 8, 1984 in Decatur, IL, the son of Rex W. McReynolds II and Kathleen A. (Heckel) McReynolds. Brian achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Meridian High School in 2004. Prior to joining the U. S. Navy he worked at St. Mary's Hospital and attended Richland Community College. He served on the USS Comfort for humanitarian missions to Central America and also for Hurricane Katrina. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy. Brian trans-gendered in 2009 and was very proud of her identity. Brenna was a Certified Surgical Technician at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, IL. She was highly respected in her profession and had a special passion for orthopedic surgery. Survivors include mother Kathleen of Decatur, IL and father Rex and step-mother Midge of Santa Teresa, NM. Sisters: Stephanie Smith of Decatur, IL and Lisa Stewart and husband Gordon of Mt. Zion, IL. Nephews: Che and Kalin McReynolds and Drayden Smith of Decatur, IL and Avaleena and Declan Stewart of Mt. Zion, IL. Brenna is also survived by Aunts: Nancy McCall of Macon, IL and Elaine Rose of Evansville, IN. Uncles: Daniel Heckel of Decatur, IL and Richard (Karen) Heckel of Macon, IL. Cousins: Ronda, Ryan, Jennifer, Matt and Amanda. She also leaves behind special friend Talia Tamason of Berkeley, IL. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents: Rex and Mary McReynolds and maternal grandparents: Oscar and Dorothy Heckel. She enjoyed working on old cars, especially Mustangs. She loved her cat Bowie. Brenna and Talia shared many fond memories. She will be missed by all who loved her. We will miss her caring heart and warm smile. Memorials: Homeward Bound and Macon County Animal Shelter or donor's choice. "
