Brenda Irene (Gray) Felter went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025. She passed away at her home in Harristown, IL. Brenda was born July 30, 1941, in Kinmundy, IL., the daughter of Paul and Jessie (Anderson) Gray.
Brenda was first married to Robert 'Dale' Hanks on November 23, 1958 in Kinmundy, IL.
She later married Harold 'Wayne' Felter on June 30, 1990 in Salem, IL
Brenda was a dedicated worker. In the '60s she worked in the hardware department at Sears. Later she did factory work, first at the General Electric plant in Decatur, and later at Dickey-John in Auburn, IL. In the early '80s she started working at St. Mary's Hospital in housekeeping, where she worked the next 40 years. She retired from there in 2021.
Throughout her life she enjoyed a variety of activities. In her younger years, she loved roller skating and water skiing. She took ceramics classes and guitar lessons. She always enjoyed family camping trips. She later was a member of a local clogging group. Brenda and Wayne spent their vacations travelling to many camping locations around the country. As a part of their camping activities, Brenda received the honorary title of Kentucky Colonel in 2000. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling her dog, Amy. She was a member of the Long Creek United Methodist Church, attending regularly when she was able.
Brenda is survived by her son Ron Hanks and wife Shari, daughter Tammy Hanks, stepchildren, Lori Rosborough and husband Kevin, Jodi Felter, Lonnie Felter and wife Amy, Taran McKeith, and Tyson Felter and wife Natasha. She is also survived by a brother Jerry Gray and wife Millie, a grandson Robert Hanks, numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, brother Duane Gray and sister Bonnie Wimberly.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Friday, August 1, 2025 at Long Creek United Methodist Church, 6890 E Firehouse Rd, Decatur. Funeral will be at 11:00 AM, Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery.
