Boyd R. Cooper, 85, of Decatur passed away July 9, 2016 at Symphony of Decatur. Funeral services will be Friday, July 15 at 11:00 AM in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Memorials may be made to Gospel Chapel. Boyd was born February 7, 1931 in Ludell, KS, the son of Charles B. and Susie M. (Buckno) Cooper. He married Lois Shrader on April 19, 2009 in Decatur. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as lead custodian at John’s Hill Elementary after many years with Decatur Public Schools. Boyd enjoyed crochet and macramé winning awards for his work. He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church in Decatur. He is survived by his wife, Lois; son Jeffrey (Eva) Cooper of Springfield, IL; daughters, Paula Cowart of Tallahassee, FL and Rebecca Curtis of Essexville, MI; brother, Oral Cooper; sisters Betty Clark and Opal Dawes, all of Colorado; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sheila, wife Bessie, seven brothers and one sister. "
