Bonnie Louise (Clausing) Sauer was born February 28, 1926 in Kansas City, MO. On November 3, 2014, her heavenly Father welcomed her home. Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL, on Monday, November 10, 2014. Bonnie was the second of four children born to Otto and Alice Clausing. She grew up in Ottumwa, IA. She is survived by a sister, Ellie Gilfoyle, of TN and she is preceded in death by an older sister, Lyda McConnell and a younger brother, Dale Clausing. In 1948, Bonnie graduated from the University of Iowa where she met her husband, Donald R. Sauer. They were married for 45 years, until Don's death in 1993. Don and Bonnie, as newlyweds, lived in St. Louis, MO where she worked for the Missouri State Welfare. In 1956, they moved to Decatur, IL, and together they raised five children: Linda Williams (husband Tom) of Boulder, CO, Douglas Sauer of Dallas, TX, John Sauer (wife Leslie) of Huntsville, AL, Joe Sauer (wife Nancy) of Lafayette, IN, and Ann Eaton (husband Jim) of Warrensburg, IL. She has seven grandchildren (Justin Sauer, Lauren Steinbrecher, Jena Williams, Alan Sauer, Emily Eaton, Gregory Eaton, Charlotte Sauer) and one great grandchild (Luke Steinbrecher). Bonnie was a devoted mom and grandmother. She was a member of Central Christian Church, which she thought of as her second family. For many years, she was active in NWRAPS, a neighborhood restoration group located in Decatur's historic area. She also worked at JC Penney's catalog department from 1975 until her retirement in 1989. In 2007, she moved to Hickory Point Christian Village of Forsyth, IL. The residents and staff added much joy to her life. Mom asked that in lieu of flowers, she would like all memorials to be given to Central Christian Church, 650 W. William, Decatur, IL 62522. "
