Bobby Parsons

Bobby Mason Parsons, Jr., 71, of Decatur departed from this life on March 10, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield with military honors.Bobby was born May 11, 1950 in Decatur, the son of Robert Mason Parsons and Dorothy Jean (Jones) Freeman. He proudly served our country in the US Navy aboard the USS America. Bobby enjoyed remodeling and restoring houses and loved working in his yard. He was an excellent cook and could transform a few ingredients into a delicious meal. Bobby was very creative and mechanical and loved to draw.Surviving are his son, Bobby Dushawn Holmes of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Carla (Benito) Dotson of Decatur; grandchildren: Joseph Holmes, Jashawn Holmes, Jatay Brown, Dushawn Holmes, and Bobby Holmes; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Chester (Freda) Parsons, Nancy Parsons, Patrick (Helen) Parsons, and Leah Parsons-Freeman.Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy; Diane Holmes; daughter, Colleen Holmes; and brother, Antonio Parsons.
