Bill J. Perkins, 74, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016 in his home.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday, February 26, at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Decatur.Memorials may be made to: DMH Hospice, Mt. Zion Christian Church, or Salvation Army.Bill was born on September 23, 1941 in Decatur, IL, the son of O.E. (Euel) and Lora T. (Robinson) Perkins. He married Judy K. Ramsey on February 12, 1966 in Decatur. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church and volunteered at Good Samaritan Inn. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, jigsaw puzzles, and walking.Bill was supervisor for Tate & Lyle for 28 years, and was Past President of Tate & Lyle Retirees Association. Bill also worked at True Value North for 15 years as a night manager. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Judy of Decatur; son: Chief Master Sergeant U.S.A.F. Timothy J. Perkins of Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, VA and fiancee Jennifer Ann Layman of Tel Aviv, Israel; daughter: Christina M. Perkins of Mt. Zion, IL; granddaughter: Devon Kae Perkins of Mt. Zion, IL grandsons: David Ryan Perkins of Carbondale, IL and Nicholos Matuszewicz of Mt. Zion, IL; sister: Margaret Jackson of Washington, MO; brother: Jerry Perkins and wife Jan of Weaverville, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.The family extends a special thank you to Barbara and Larry Baker, Emily Crews, Sandy Payne, and DMH Hospice (Jim, Becky, Gail, Leslie and Dan Spruell) for all the care and support given to Bill during his journey.Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His faith, family and friends were the most important parts of his life. His honesty, grace, dignity and his will to live was admired by all who knew him. Bill will also be remembered for his striking head of white hair. "
