Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 P.M., with a prayer service at 8 P.M., Thursday, March 11, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Dove, Inc.Bill was born December 9, 1949, in Decatur, IL, the son of Daniel Francis and Dorothea Ann (Koons) Ducy. He married Teri Hopkins on December 26, 1985 in Newport, IN.Bill was a carpenter of Local 742 for 25 years and recently retired on September 1, 2009. He loved boating, trapping, and vacationing. Bill could always find ways to make things work easier, enjoyed life, spending time with his wife Teri, and being with friends and family and teasing his granddaughter Riley. He was former owner of Decatur Blues Hockey from 1979 - 1981 and worked at Caterpillar from 1969 - 1979. Bill was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and also attended Life Foursquare Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #105 and a former member of Macon County Board. Bill was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1968 - 1969.He is survived by his wife Teri of Decatur, IL; stepsons Duane Welch, Matt Welch and wife Whitney, all of Decatur, IL; granddaughter Riley Welch of Decatur, IL; brother Dave Ducy and wife Linda of Ft. Wayne, IN; parents Daniel F. Ducy and wife Dorothea of Decatur, IL; father-in-law Robert Hopkins of Decatur, IL; many special nieces and nephews; and special companions Jazzy and Snuggles.He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother Mike.Bill fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Esparaz, Dr. Desai, Dr. Goetter, Dr. Zacheis and Hospice nurse Jim for their care and compassion. "
