Betty Songer

Betty L. Songer, 72, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 24, at the funeral home in Decatur. Burial will be at Croninger Cemetery, Cisco, IL. Betty was born on June 26, 1939, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of James L. and Edna Mae (Fleming) Atkins. She married Jerry Lloyd Songer on September 5, 1959, in Decatur. Betty was a member of The Brethren Church of Cerro Gordo and a member of the Red Hat Society. She previously worked for Tatman Village in Monticello, IL. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Jerry of Cerro Gordo; children Steve (Cheryl) Songer of Cerro Gordo, IL, Mike (Becky) Songer of Cerro Gordo, IL, Teresa (Steve) Fraysure of Milmine, IL, Julie Cope of Merritt Island, FL, Jill (Troy) Dodson of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren Matthew Fraysure, Jacob Songer, Alex Songer, Maddison Handley, Lanie Dodson, Mitchell Dodson, Emma Fraysure, Mia Dodson, Jaxon Cope; great-granddaughter Isabella Fraysure; siblings Mary (Bob) Perry of Maryland, Eddie (Marty) Atkins of Dalton City, IL, Janet Boys of Decatur, IL, and Tom (Mary Lou) Atkins of Argenta, IL. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Mom will be remembered for her steadfast teaching, guidance, giving, and most importantly her love for her Heavenly Father and family. "
