Betty L. Pritchett, 92, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 29, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Decatur. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the church. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials in Betty’s honor may be made to: Northeast Community Fund, First Baptist Church or Cancer Care Specialists Charitable Fund and Scholarship Program.
Betty was born April 14, 1932 in Decatur, the daughter of James and Edith (Myers) Wilkinson. She married Bill Pritchett on July 25, 1954. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2003. Betty was a member of the Decatur and Macon County Genealogical Society. She was a Girl Scout leader for 25 years and volunteered as a tutor at South Shores School, winning Volunteer of the Year Award in 2009. Most of all, she was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was a member of First Baptist church where she taught the Survivor class for over 34 years. Betty was also a loomer at First Baptist Church, making over 1000 winter hats.
Surviving are her daughters: Beth (Mike) Haskell of Decatur, Martha (Jay) Burrus of Decatur, Mary Pritchett of Decatur, and Helen (Tim) Chupp of Santa Fe, TN; grandchildren: Josh (Ashley) Haskell, Joe (Brooke) Haskell, Justin Haskell, Jeremy Haskell, Jarod (Katie) Haskell, Kelsey (John) Parrish, Shelbie (Mike) Burrus, Tricia (Ryan) Pierce, and Brent Chupp; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Norma Beneze of Cañon City, CO and Carol Aldridge of Maroa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Pritchett; and six siblings.
