Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 3, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, March 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Childrens Museum of Illinois.Betty was born March 3, 1925, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William Oscar and Mable (Wright) Pier. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1943 and worked at Illinois Bell Telephone for 25 years as a service representative. Betty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she volunteered for the Grace United Methodist Park Program. She also volunteered at the Childrens Museum. Betty was a member of Telephone Pioneers and was affiliated with the American Business Womens Association Decatur Charter Chapter #4009. She was an avid sports fan, and especially liked the CUBS.She is survived by her children Michael P. Norrington of Carbondale, IL, Susan Longfellow and husband Jack of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Tamara Evey of Edwardsville, IL, Brad Gillespie of Indianapolis, IN, Todd Norrington and wife Dannyel of Carterville, IL, Lori Gillespie of Champaign, IL, Chris Norrington and wife Hollie of Murphysboro, IL; great grandchild Olivia Lynn Norrington of Carterville, IL; sisters Mildred Dreasher, Jane Gaffron, Pauline Wingfield, Patricia Bell, all of Decatur, IL, Leona Seymour of Dunkirk, MD, Mary Ann Andrews and husband Keith of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy Simroth and husband Don of Charlottesville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Deborah Norrington, sister Katherine Barnes and brothers John Pier and William Pier.The family would like to thank Laurie Brown and staff of Fair Havens Christian Home for their loving care and kindness shown to our Mother.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
