Betty Jane (Blankenship) Johnston, 93, of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in her home.Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Inurnment with her husband will be at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Christ United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL.Betty was born December 21, 1924, in Barnsville, MN, daughter of Harold and Gertha (Malingen) Blankenship. She married Harry S. Johnston April 6, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2012.Betty was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, watching Cub’s baseball, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.Surviving are her son: Kevin D. Johnston of Decatur; daughter Karen L. Prescher of Chillicothe, IL; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother. "
