Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with a Trisagion service at 6 P.M. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 1, 2010, with brief services at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, followed by church services at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur, IL.Mrs. Kareotes was born in Decatur, IL, on May 25, 1922, daughter of Anthe and Peter Bacopulos. She married George P. Kareotes on January 29, 1950 in Decatur, IL.Mrs. Kareotes attended Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir many times as a soloist. She was a charter member of St. Catherines Society, serving as President in 1965 and 1977. She also served on the board for many years. Mrs. Kareotes was affiliated with the Princess Confectionary and editor of the Golden Anniversary Book in 1977, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the church.Surviving are her husband of 60 years, George P. of Decatur, IL; two sons Peter G. of Decatur, IL and Gregory G. (wife Stephanie) of Morton, IL; 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons; sisters Pearl Karnas of St. George, UT, Kristine Futris of Memphis, TN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, and one sister.Bessie Kareotes will be remembered by many friends who knew her as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a truly loving person who will be cherished and missed. May she rest in Peace.Memorials may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 570 N. Union Street, Decatur, IL 62522. "
