Funeral: 10:00 AM on July 06, 2011 Bertha Marie Rau, 97, of Decatur, IL, died 6:38 P.M., Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Bertha was born May 28, 1914, in Macon County, IL, the daughter of Charles Daniel and Minnie Augusta (Moser) Gillen. She married Earl W. Rau on April 2, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker for most of her life and assisted her husband on their farm near Warrensburg, IL. In later years she turned her cooking skills into employment at Maroa and Decatur area restaurants and at the Warrensburg-Latham High School cafeteria. After retirement, she became a volunteer in the sewing department of McKinley Court nursing home. Bertha was a member of VFW Post #99 for a number of years, where she was an avid dancer. She also held memberships in the Eagles and Moose Clubs. She is survived by her son Gary E. Rau of Decatur, IL, daughter Kay Sharon Rau of St. Louis, MO, and several other relatives including cousins, nieces and nephews in IL and other states. She had one sister, Ruth, and two brothers, Charles Jr. and William, all of whom preceded her in death. "
