Bertha Faith (Morgan) Kidd, 87, of Decatur died peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Bertha was born on November 17, 1938, to parents Harry and Corabell Morgan in West Frankfort, Illinois. She was a graduate of Union Grove High School in Wisconsin in 1955. She graduated with a Registered Nurse Diploma from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Racine, Wisconsin in 1959. She then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at the National Institutes of Health. She married George Kidd in 1962, moving to Decatur in 1965. The couple shared 63 happy years of marriage while raising a beautiful family. Bertha was a faithful member of Mound Chapel Church of God, where she played the organ for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Gail Kidd. She is survived by her husband; son Steven (Elizabeth); daughter Allison (Mike) Perry; Candace Kidd; grandchildren Morgan Downs (Adam), Andrew Kidd (Mariana), Eric and Renee Perry, and her great grandson Jacob Downs.
Bertha will be greatly missed by her life-long friends from Maryland, Mound Chapel Church of God, and family in Wisconsin and Southern Illinois.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, December 27 at Mound Chapel Church of God with services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mound Chapel Church of God.
