Bernard "Ben" W. Smith, 87, of Decatur, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 14, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Monday, February 13, at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Star of Hope Mausoleum, Decatur, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Illinois Elks Children's Care, P.O. Box 222, Chatham, IL 62629. Mr. Smith was born May 19, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Albert Xavier and Gertrude (Gorney) Smith. He married Anna Faye Knight on November 7, 1947, in Carnegie, PA. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WWII. He went to Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute, and was a watch maker for 62 years, and was a retired postal carrier. He was a member of the Central Illinois Watchmaker's Association, N.A.R.F.E., Elks #401, VFW Post #99, American Legion Post #105, and First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Anna Faye, of Decatur, sister Genevieve Weiss of Pittsburgh, PA, brother Eugene Smith of Decatur, and four nieces and one nephew. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents. "
