Beatrice Marie (Bea) Coon, of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Loretto Home located within the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Convent in Springfield, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Drive, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour preceding the Mass at the church. Private family burial will be held at Macon County Memorial Park, 500 West Main, Harristown, IL, following the Mass. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Bea was born December 17, 1916, in Newton, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Jennie (Ochs) Collings. Bea was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was retired from Carson Pirie Scott and was known as an accomplished seamstress. Bea is survived by her sons: Jerry Coon (Debbie) of Decatur, IL and Robert Coon of Warrenville, IL; sisters: Sister Paulette Collings, of Springfield, IL, Dorothy Briggs of St. Louis, MO; brothers: John Collings of Robinson, IL, and Ray Collings (Marilyn) of Mattoon, IL; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Anderson and brothers: Orville Collings, Ed Collings, and Delbert Collings; and daughter-in-law: Joyce Coon. The family would especially like to thank her sister, Sister Paulette Collings, and the special nurses and staff at the Convent for their compassion and wonderful care during her stay. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Bea may be made to the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, P.O. Box 19431, Springfield, IL 62794. "
