Barry Lynn Sanders, 60, of Decatur, IL, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, July 18, 2014 from St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Wray Offermann presiding. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial will be at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Barry was born March 21, 1954 to Bob and Cora Sanders. After graduating from Stephen Decatur High School, he attended Richland Community College for welding classes. He cherished memories of growing up with his family and spoke frequently of his years in Boy Scouts and his trip to the National Jamboree. He worked in maintenance for the Decatur Public Schools for 35 years. He married Deborah Joy Sanders on March 2, 1974. He leaves behind his father, Bob; his wife of 40 years, Joy; his son Derek and partner Kenda; brother, Mark Sanders of Decatur; sisters Mary Jane Smith of Virginia; Bonnie Eaton of Decatur, and Carol and Charlie Owens of Charleston; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in the Decatur area. His mother preceded him in death in 2005. Thanks to employees of St. Mary's, Decatur Public Schools, ADM and the family of God at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for much needed help and support.
