Barbara Eileen (Wood) Wood, 97, of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born February 23, 1928, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Leda (McLaughlin) Wood, of Cerro Gordo. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1946. She married Max Wood of Atwood, IL, on December 31, 1949, in Chicago.
Max and Barb moved to rural Cerro Gordo and operated the family farm and a trucking business for many years. She graduated in 1970 from the Decatur School of Practical Nursing, and worked for many years as a private duty licensed practical nurse.
Barb enjoyed reading, writing, music, and playing Mexican Train with her friends. She was a lifelong member of the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughters Aimee Lange, Gayle (Mike) Heimer, and Nona (Tom) Tohill; grandchildren Michelle Walker and Megan (Justin) Howell; great-grandchildren Lawson, Dylan, Jazlyn, and Rylyn; and nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jim Wood; and sister, Mona Babcock.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, July 7, 2025, 2 p.m., at the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, 104 E. Carter St. Memorials may be made to the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church.
