Dr. Barbara Ray Tyler, 96, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, at The Arc at Hickory Point in Forsyth, IL.

Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are assisting the family with arrangements. Visitation will be held 9:30AM – 11:00 AM Friday July 25, 2025, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in Dr. Tyler’s honor may be made to Central Christian Church or Tanglewood Village Activity Fund.

Dr. Tyler was born September 19, 1928, in Decatur, Illinois. The daughter of Earle V. and Lucille (Dial) Ray. She was a 1946 graduate of Decatur High School, earning a bachelor's degree at Illinois State University, a master’s degree at University of Illinois, and a doctorate from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

For 35 years, she was a teacher-administrator in public high schools of Illinois, retiring as an administrator at Niles North High School in Skokie, Illinois. She married Raymond Guy Tyler in December of 1978. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Dr. Tyler was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church, and served as an usher, greeter, deaconess, co-chairperson of Diaconate, Elder, Sunday school teacher, computer data processor, a liturgist, and a Stephen Minister. She was a volunteer at DMH Thrift Shop for many years and a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her step-family - daughters Bev Zimmerman, Carol (Hank) Gnerer, Vickie Entz; grandchildren Gordon (Shawn) Entz, Amanda (Kevin) Mohr, Brian (Natalie) Gnerer, Keri (Alan) Bearder, Lori (Curt) Ash; great-grandchildren Brandon and Tyler, Josiah and Alexa, Emmy and Maddy, Natalie, Kody and Katie, Mason, Kate, and Heaven; great-great-grandchildren Embrilynn, Hazel, Samuel, Noah, Kinzlee, Laikzyn, Lawsyn; many cousins, and special friend Martha Jo Colver.

Dr. Tyler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons-in-law Cliff Entz and Ed Zimmerman, and grandson Norman Entz.
