DECATUR - Barbara Ann Penhallegon of Decatur passed away November 22, 2011 in her home. There will be a private family burial. No visitation. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to The Governor Oglesby Mansion Inc., 421 West William St., Decatur, IL 62522. Barbara was born April 30, 1920 in Champaign, IL the daughter of Grover C. and Fay (Young) Patton. She attended Mary W. French School, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High and graduated from Decatur High School in 1938. She attended Millikin University and graduated from Principia College. She married Edward England Penhallegon August 22, 1942 in Louisville, KY. She was a member of the DAR, the Illinois Chapter of the Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, Junior Welfare Association, YWCA Board, Country Club of Decatur, and Decatur Club. Most notably, she was instrumental in initiating the preservation of the Governor Oglesby Mansion serving over 30 years on the restoration committee. She attended the First Church of Christ Scientist. Surviving are her sister Janet Rhea, her children: William E. Penhallegon (peach), Barbara L. McKay (Tom) of Decatur, G. Patton Penhallegon ofMt. Zion; grandchildren: Daniel L. Evans (Katie) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Eric E Penhallegon (Kate) of Chesterfield, Missouri, Stephen P. Penhallegon (Julie) of Forsyth, Thomas "Mac" McKay of Evergreen, Colorado, and Patton C. Penhallegon of Huntington Beach, California; seven great grandchildren and special family member for over fifty years, Catherine Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Jean. Barbara will be remembered for her steadfast love of her husband, family and friends and her sense of beauty and order. "
